In late 2011 I was sparked to change. For most of my life I was introverted, skilled at isolating myself from the world, and was always that guy in the meeting who never spoke up. THIS was me for most of my life, but for whatever reason I decided I didn’t want to be that guy any longer.
Now? I’m a completely different person than I was. And that 2011 “pivot,” where I finally broke out of my shell, changed my life in many ways, and led to me completely restructuring my business.
This leads me back to the title.
“Breaking out” is a metaphor that represents a major shift in someone’s life—a defining moment when everything changes for the better. A moment when they know that everything going forward is going to be completely different.
For some, it’s a moment that defines their career.
For others, it’s a rebirth that leads to a completely new life.
I am fascinated by the concept of a breakout moment, so I decided to structure a show around it.
With each guest, I want to get to the root of their breakout moment—pinpoint the defining space in time that altered the course of his or her life. Then explore what led to it (inspiration, hard work, dumb luck, and everything in-between) and what they think it takes to spark this breakthrough, from creative exploration, to habits, to unique and potent marketing that propels their brand.
In a nutshell, to get into the surprising story behind their success to date. And deconstruct how they mastered their own art of breaking out.
I have great conversations with…
• entrepreneurs who have turned their passion into a business;
• those who have tossed the corporate life to pursue something they truly love to do;
• people who are using modern media to tell their story in breakout fashion;
• and more.
I want to continue to move and help you do the same. To help you get unstuck and get past the suck.
My expertise is in design, marketing, and effective communication. I help companies build a brand and then coach them on how to sustain it. I believe this is part art, part science, but relatively easy to define, teach, and implement.
But the true ART of breaking out is not so easy to define. Sometimes it can’t be taught. And implementation depends on who I’m taking with and what their goals are. There is no one formula for “success” because it’s unique to each person. That’s the beauty of the show and why I wanted to do it.
So, how will the Art of Breaking Out help you?
It will make you think about your values, your skills, your beliefs. To encourage you to think hard about what success means to you. Then, if you feel change is needed, taking that next step.
The show is about manifesting change with purpose, habits, and moving with intention. And putting things like creativity, networking, and brand-building to action.
The ART of breaking out is deeply personal and so amazingly different for each person.
I simply want to spark change. To help you get unstuck and get past the suck. To move you to make that one little change and create your own breakout moment.
That’s it. And I call it The Art of Breaking Out.
